Chadar Trek is one of the most beautiful and difficult Trek of the Great Himalayan ranges. It is a Frozen River Trek, where Trekkers have to walk on the frozen Zanskar River which turns into a solid bed of ice during winters. Trek to Chadar may even get a chance to see some rare wildlife such as ibex or spot a local mountain goat.
Enormous areas of the stream Zanskar, which is perhaps the mightiest waterway in Ladakh, freeze over in the dead of winter and are secured by a thick cover of ice. This solidified cover or ‘Chadar’ is the main path in and out for Zanskaris in winter, when the street and different other parade courses are shut because of overwhelming frosty path of the ‘Chadar trek’ snowfall hindering the high passes. It has been their conventional exchange course winter for quite a long time. The seven to eight days stroll from chilling to Padum is exceptionally exciting and challenging experience. The scene acquires an immaculate greatness in winter as the path goes into the canyon of the Zanskar, where temperatures some of the time drop to – 30 to – 35 Degree Celsius.
